Departmental Service:

  • Coordinator of Adjunct English Faculty: Interviewed, oriented, staffed, observed, reviewed, supported, and facilitated workshops for all part-time English faculty. Developed the first part-time English faculty website at College of DuPage.
  • Department IT Liaison: Identified, secured funding, and provided training and support for faculty technology needs, including hardware, software, and digitally delivered tools used to promote effective teaching, assessment, and research. Facilitated “Syllaweb Development Workshop” for faculty making initial efforts to move instructional materials online in accessible and effective fashion. Also facilitated faculty development workshops in use of online teaching tools, such as Norton ConnectWeb.
  • Chair of Discipline-Level Assessment: Led disciplinary efforts in assessment for accreditation, and in development of classroom-level assessment tools and techniques designed to improve and support day-to-day student comprehension and success, and teaching effectiveness.

Institutional Service:

  • Co-Chair of College-Wide Assessment Team: Led assessment workshops, presented at local and national conferences, developed promotional and educational materials for faculty, collected and analyzed assessment data, collaboratively wrote and revised assessment report in support of accreditation efforts.
  • Institutional Climate Committee: Developed and promoted materials and activities to support and nurture creating and sustaining a positive learning, teaching, and working environment for all constituencies at the college.
  • Teaching and Learning Center Committee: Developed materials, communications, events, and workshops designed to support faculty development.
  • Honors Advisory Council: Established programs, policies, and procedures designed to support the development and success of honors students and faculty.
  • Faculty Technology Advisory Committee: Identified and prioritized technology needs to support teaching and learning. Contributed to development of computer labs and technology enhanced classrooms.
  • Faculty Senator: Represented teaching, learning, and disciplinary interests in ongoing discussions about the growth and direction of college policies, procedures, and strategic plans.
  • Grievance Team: Worked to deescalate and resolve contractual, personnel, and personal disagreements and disputes to the mutual satisfaction of all interested parties.
